In 2007 the temporary exhibition Tashqurghan, an urban Afghan heritage lost? opened on the first floor of the National Museum. It was one of the first exhibitions after the rebuilding in 2003 began. The exhibition showed photographs of the historic bazaar in Tashqurghan in the seventies and ethnographic material from the northern region of Afghanistan. The bazaar has been documented in beautiful photographs, but the bazaar itself has been bombed in the beginning of the eighties by the Sovjets leaving a totally destructed social and cultural centre of Tashqurghan.
